Following its successful global launch earlier this year, Honor of Kings has been awarded Google Play’s Best Game of 2024 in Southeast Asia, covering Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
The world’s most-played MOBA has captured players’ hearts with its blend of accessibility and strategic depth. Players join five-person teams to compete in fast-paced matches, choosing from a diverse roster of heroes to defend their territory and defeat opponents.
While welcoming to newcomers, the game offers rich tactical possibilities that have cultivated a vibrant competitive scene where skilled players push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Dean Huang, director of Honor of Kings, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Google Play for the award and to the passionate community across Southeast Asia that has embraced Honor of Kings since its launch and made it one of the most popular games in the region.”
Celebrating Southeast Asia with localized content
With over 50 million downloads globally, Honor of Kings has made significant efforts to connect with its international audience through comprehensive localization and educational resources.
The game has developed regionally-inspired heroes and activities, including the Lee Chong Wei campaign in Malaysia—featuring the first-ever Malaysian professional sports athlete in a mobile game.
A special Silat-themed skin, marking the first time the traditional martial art appeared in a mobile game, was particularly well-received in the region.
Demonstrating its commitment to local culture, Honor of Kings responded to Indonesian players’ desire to bring Garuda, a cultural and national symbol, to the game. The team launched a co-creation event inviting players to share their vision for the new hero, and Garuda Khageswara will debut exclusively for the Indonesian market in early 2025.

The game’s competitive scene has also flourished through several major tournaments in 2024.
The Honor of Kings Invitational Series Season 1 kicked off in Istanbul, Türkiye, where Vivo Keyd Stars emerged victorious.
Season 2 in Malaysia crowned LGD Malaysia (now Black Shrew Esports) as champions. That was followed shortly by the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, featuring a USD 3,000,000 prize pool, where the KPL Dream Team dominated.
And to close the year, the 2024 Honor of Kings Championship in Jakarta saw Black Shrew Esports claim the title.
