Fight fans can look forward to new global martial arts-inspired character skins in Honor of Kings today.
The mobile MOBA hit game will introduce fighter skins inspired by Silat, Capoeira, and a Mexican luchador.
They are Lam, who fights in the Southeast Asian Silat style, Mayene the Brazilian Capoeirista, and Lian Po the masked wrestling luchador.
From August 9-30, players can obtain these character skins by completing in-game challenges such as logging in, teaming up with friends, and playing mini-games.
Learn more about how Mayene the Capoeirista was created, and how the designers embedded cultural references as Easter eggs into her design:
The game is introducing these new skins through a fictional martial art tournament, the All-Star Fighters Open.
As the storyline goes, the game’s heroes join the tournament and learn how their cross-cultural martial arts skills come in handy to help them survive. Players get to train their heroes and defeat opponents in fighting mini-games in the All-Star Fighters Open.
Players also get to explore these new martial arts styles with a new arcade mode called Gemini Showdown. The event is only available for a limited time, and will allow players to learn the new martial arts styles at a deeper level, practicing with their heroes to really get them to shine.
New mage hero Ziya
Later in the month, Honor of Kings will also welcome a new mage hero, Ziya, who lands on August 20.
Ziya is aimed at new players to the game, and can unleash long-range attacks, allowing them to clear waves of enemies more easily from a safe distance.
Players get an experience boost if Ziya kills an enemy within a few seconds. The hero has an additional ability to increase a teammate’s max level limit to 25.
