Inflexion Games CEO walks us through big Realms Rebuilt update for Nightingale

Inflexion Games‘ co-op survival crafting game Nightingale has released a major update called Realms Rebuilt, announced during the recent Gamescom 2024.

We got the lowdown on what’s new straight from Aaryn Flynn, CEO of Inflexion Games:

Realms Rebuilt is a free major update for the game and its biggest to date.

“After launching about six months ago, we thought a lot about what early access means to us and what’s important.

“Early access was a chance to put the first part of our game out there and really learn from our players and our fans, both the good and the bad, what players are really liking and what we want to improve,” said Flynn.

The Nightingale team has also put out a guide with more details on what’s new in the update, so watch this and read on:

Build your Estate

One of the key improvements in Realms Rebuilt is the Estate Building system. It will offer players more creative freedom, with build limits that have been significantly increased, allowing much larger structures and placement of more objects in the world.

Cosmetically, the new Regency Tileset will also give an option to infuse estates with 18th century elegance.

New campaign storyline

A new handcrafted campaign has also been built into Nightingale. This new campaign storyline will take players to different realms, offering unique experiences for each one of them. Instead of regular terrains, players will see deserts with giant floating rocks, forests with huge dungeons, and more.

Unlike the procedurally created realms, these handcrafted realms will offer the same experience to all players.

This will allow greater discussion among Nightingale fans, allowing them to exchange notes and learn from each other. Players will also encounter new bosses that will challenge their skills to the limit, capping off a campaign experience that is deeper and richer than before.

Upgraded progression, weapons, spells

The progression system has also been overhauled, giving players more control over unlocking recipes. Players can decide what recipes they want to unlock, presented in a beautiful new UI, which they can then compare with friends that play too.

New magic spells such as immolation will allow players to unleash new powers such as lobbing fireballs at enemies, or having a giant supernatural fish land on them.

Explore weapons such as long-range bows allowing for sniping, as well as new weapon classes for upgrades. Players will be able to customize their combat strategy with 10 new charms that can enhance all equipped items and weapons.

Next steps: End-game content

With all these improvements in place, forming the foundation of what Nightingale will be for the immediate future, Flynn shared his vision for more end-game content.

“Beyond the storied realms we’ve built, the new tech tree, with those as foundational pieces of the experience, we can now focus on the player that has put 30, 50 or 100-plus hours into the game and give them really cool experiences to reward, and entice them to keep playing.”

The Rebuilt Realms update for Nightingale is now live. Players can hop on early access from Steam or the Epic Games Store.
