Jakarta showdown: 16 teams battle at the 2024 Honor of Kings Championship for US$1M prize pool

The stage is set for the challengers to face off at the first 2024 Honor of Kings Championship (KC 2024) from Oct. 12–27. Taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia, KC 2024 will be the epic finale of the first Honor of Kings Invitational Series that has been taking place over the course of the year.

16 teams from around the world will gather in the heart of Indonesia’s capital city to battle it out for a piece of the US$1 million prize pool. The champion takes home US$300,000.

The teams will meet at MGP Space for the group stage, before the grand finals at Kemang Village Indoor from Oct. 25–27.

James Yang, senior director of Level Infinite Global Esports Center, said: “The 2024 Honor of Kings Championship in Jakarta will celebrate the world’s top Honor of Kings teams and mark a significant milestone in the global esports landscape.

“Since our successful global launch earlier this year, we’ve seen players worldwide coming together to enjoy the game. We are excited to welcome the best teams to this Championship, and we can’t wait for the thrilling matches ahead starting next weekend.”

Who’s up

Philippines – Blacklist International

Group B
Malaysia – Nova Esports
Saudi Arabia – Team Falcons
Indonesia – Kagendra Esports
France – Team Vitality
Group C
Brazil – Alpha 7 Esports
Philippines – BOOM Esports
Malaysia – Team Secret
Brazil – Influence Rage

Group D
Malaysia – Black Shrew Esports
Myanmar  – Impunity Esports
Hong Kong, China – Fearless Esports HK
Singapore – Revenant Esports

Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2 champs Black Shrew Esport are coming for the crown. The Malaysian team was also the first runner-up at the Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason x Esports World Cup at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fellow Malaysian squad Team Secret has plenty of tricks up their sleeve against their rivals and will be hoping to secure an upset and claim the victory for themselves. But hot on their heels are Nova Esports, who came out ahead of them at the recent Malaysia Qualifier.

And naturally, there will be a focus on Indonesia’s homegrown teams: Dominator Esports, Kagendra, and Mahadewa, who have lots to prove especially on home soil.

Rivaling them will be the teams from the Philippines: Boom Esports and Blacklist International. These two esports organizations are local Southeast Asian royalty in other esports tournaments, and they’re looking to secure their legacy in Honor of Kings as well.

Two other SEA teams are also hoping to make their mark at KC 2024: Myanmar’s Impunity and Singapore’s Revenant Esports. Revenant is new to the scene, but they already have a history with Impunity—two of their players, Jerome “Seira” Ong Yan Zhi and Lanson “Tenmo” Loh Jia Chuan left Impunity after the Midseason to join what would eventually become Revenant.

While Impunity came out on top 3-0 in the qualifiers, Revenant is likely looking for revenge and to prove their mettle. Expect to see these new rivalries battle it out on the Honor of Kings battlefield in a must-watch series.

Meanwhile, Brazilian squads Influence Rage and Alpha7 Esports represent the hopes of Latin America. Alpha7 Esports beat out Season 1 champions Vivo Keyd Stars 4-3 in a tense best-of-seven Grand Final at the qualifiers and will be looking to show the world how strong Brazil is on the world stage.

Influence Rage may also have a slight advantage of their playstyle being unknown to Southeast Asian teams for now, while they can look at the SEA teams’ performances at the Midseason to try and figure them out.

Team Vitality from France brings its multinational talent who played at both S2 and the Midseason. The team features players from Italy, Germany, and China. It will be interesting to see if they can improve on their results from the last two tournaments they played at.

Joining Vitality are the winners of the Pacific Play-In qualifiers, Hong Kong’s Fearless Esports HK and MENA Qualifier winners Team Falcons. Like Vitality, Falcons has a mixed squad, and the upcoming battles will give them a chance to showcase the talents of their two players from China: Xia “QF” Jinfei and Yu “Bobby” Jie.

Turkish fans will be pleased to know that FUT Esports is playing. While they were the best performing Turkish team in Season 1, FUT Esports struggled in S2 and failed to make it to the Midseason. This time around, they will have a chance to redeem themselves against the best teams in the world and fly the Turkish flag high.

The 2024 Honor of Kings Championship is shaping out to be an epic battle between the sixteen best Honor of Kings teams in the world, and you definitely won’t want to miss all of the intense action taking place this October.
